http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panopticon
The Panopticon is a type of institutional building designed by English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late 18th century. The concept of the design is to allow a watchman to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) inmates of an institution without them being able to tell whether or not they are being watched.

Entrevista con A. Lunn: http://thatshowkidsdie.com/2012/06/08/interview-panopticon/
THKD: You covered the traditional songs “Come All Ye Coal Miners” and “Which Side Are You On?” for Kentucky. How did you discover these particular songs and what made you decide to include them on the album?

AL: These are old union songs…they are really well-known protest songs, written in the 30′s. I’m not much of a singer, so I just drank a bit of booze and sang from the heart. I think those songs deserve the honesty, even if it is flawed. They are powerful songs that gave the strength needed to those union workers back in the 30′s.
...
THKD: Kentucky features a variety of samples, which is fairly unusual for black metal. Where did these samples come from, and how do they enhance the album?

AL: They came from some documentaries about the union struggles, mountain top removal in West Virginia and Kentucky, and lots of samples of public events I found digging on YouTube. I think they are important because this is a generation that hardly buys albums and thus misses out on the liner notes. So I include samples so people will still understand what I am trying to say, because they certainly won’t understand my screaming like I’m having my ass beat by a staircase.

The samples were taken from the documentary "Harlan County USA", a documentary called " Mountain Top Removal" as well as interviews I did with people I know personally and news casts and court footage from eastern Kentucky.

Harlan County, USA is an Oscar-winning 1976 documentary film covering the "Brookside Strike", an effort of 180 coal miners and their wives against the Duke Power Company-owned Eastover Coal Company's Brookside Mine and Prep Plant in Harlan County, southeast Kentucky in 1973. Directed and produced by Barbara Kopple, who has long been an advocate of workers' rights, Harlan County, U.S.A. is less ambivalent in its attitude toward unions than her later American Dream, the account of the Hormel Foods strike in Austin, Minnesota in 1985-86.

There is no bloodier chapter in the history of U.S. labor than the struggle of coal miners, and some of the most violent episodes within this chapter occurred in Harlan County, Kentucky. The people who live there remember it as “bloody Harlan,” the site of fierce battles between miners and coal companies that culminated on May 4, 1931, in a shootout that left a large number of dead and wounded. The song that fixed this struggle forever in the folklore of U.S. labor—“Which Side are You On?”—plays an important role in the film, both as a constant reminder of the historical continuity of the miners’ fight, and as a commentary, of sorts, on the kind of partisan filmmaking practiced by Kopple and her crew.

Canción "Wich Side are You On?":

'Which Side Are You On?' is a song written by Florence Reece in 1931. Reece was the wife of Sam Reece, a union organizer for the United Mine Workers in Harlan County, Kentucky. In 1931, the miners of that region were locked in a bitter and violent struggle with the mine owners. In an attempt to intimidate the Reece family, Sheriff J. H. Blair and his men (hired by the mining company) illegally entered their family home in search of Sam Reece. Sam had been warned in advance and escaped, but Florence and their children were terrorized in his place. That night, after the men had gone, Florence wrote the lyrics to 'Which Side Are You On?' on a calendar that hung in the kitchen of her home. She took the melody from a traditional Baptist hymn, 'Lay the Lily Low', or the traditional ballad 'Jack Munro'.
Reece supported a second wave of miner strikes circa 1973, as recounted in the documentary Harlan County USA. She and others perform "Which Side Are You On?" a number of times throughout.
This is Pete Seeger's famous version included in his "Greatest Hits" album released in 1967.

Peter "Pete" Seeger (born May 3, 1919) is an American folk singer and was an iconic figure in the mid-20th century American folk music revival. A fixture on nationwide radio in the 1940s, he also had a string of hit records during the early 1950s as a member of The Weavers, most notably their recording of Lead Belly's 'Goodnight, Irene', which topped the charts for 13 weeks in 1950. Members of The Weavers were blacklisted during the McCarthy Era. In the 1960s, he re-emerged on the public scene as a prominent singer of protest music in support of international disarmament, civil rights, and environmental causes.
