Muy buenas,

Dive Odyssey - A meditative journey into the depths of water and mind

Dive Odyssey takes the viewers on a journey into crystal clear darkness where the only light ever is man-made. The film is an ode to thousands of years of mystical experience of water. It is also a
tribute to science-fiction classics, some of which may be recognized in the film.

The film follows the Explorer (Gemma Smith) through her exploration of an unknown planet. A
strange signal is reaching for her from the depths of ice. She makes her way through the snow,
looking for the source. Once she finds the spot, she begins a journey into the dark, ice cold world
submerged below the mountains.

She falls through the water column. The signal keeps calling her further into the depths. The sense of time and self start fading. It is like a space journey where physical and mental lose their borders. Thought and matter mix.

She encounters a shape in the darkness. It is the Silver Diver (Andy Torbet). During the encounter,
she turns into something ancient, communicating through her movement and trying to find the
connection. What first seems like something hazy and hard to understand turns into enlightenment and realization.

La idea no me acaba de gustar pero los sitios (Plura,...) y nivel de los buceadores son una pasada.

LATEST UPDATE / May 22, 2026

Dhekunu Kandu: official statement and preliminary reconstruction released

Joint statement with local authorities outlines the search & recovery timeline, cave environment, initial findings and safety advisory following the operations in Vaavu Atoll

Malé, Maldives, May 22,2026

Prepared in collaboration with the Maldivian authorities at the conclusion of a week of joint activities, this statement provides a preliminary factual overview of the search & recovery mission and the cave environment involved, while leaving any further determination on causes and responsibilities to the competent investigative authorities.

Operational Overview

Following four days of search and recovery operations concerning the four missing Italian divers in the Dhekunu Kandu cave system, also known as Thinwana Kandu, located in Vaavu Atoll, the following preliminary factual reconstruction is provided.

The international search and recovery mission was conducted over four operational days (18 to 21 May 2026) as a joint coordination effort between the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service, Divers Alert Network (DAN) Europe, Nakai Resort Alimatha, Water Solutions Pvt Ltd, Foresight Surveyors Pvt Ltd, the Finnish technical diving team, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the first operational day, the search and recovery dive team focused on inspection of the cave system and the identification of the missing divers, which was successfully completed.
During the second and third operational days, the search and recovery dive team successfully carried out the recovery of the victims from within the cave system under highly complex environmental and operational conditions.
During the fourth operational day, the team completed the removal of all equipment and materials present inside the cave system. All recovered materials were handed over to the competent authorities.

Cave Environment Description

Access to the cave system is through a first chamber, which is a large cavern. From this chamber, a tunnel begins, leading to a large second chamber.
This second chamber is completely deprived of natural light and has a sandy bottom that can significantly reduce visibility if disturbed.

Search and Recovery Findings

During the search operations, the search and recovery dive team identified an additional tunnel branching from the second chamber and located to the side of the entrance tunnel.
Diving through this additional tunnel, the search and recovery team located all four missing divers in the same area.

Preliminary Assessment

Based on the elements currently available, it can be presumed that the divers were unable to find their way back to the exit, most likely due to disorientation within the cave system.
Any further determinations regarding the causes and circumstances of the incident will be the responsibility of the competent police and investigative authorities. We therefore urge the public and media to refrain from circulating unverified assumptions or speculation out of respect for the victims and their families.

Safety Advisory

It is strongly advised not to enter this cave system without proper authorisation, specialised cave-diving training, and appropriate technical equipment.
Cave diving environments are inherently dangerous and should only be approached by highly trained and properly equipped divers.

The mission concludes in memory of the six victims of this tragedy: the five Italian divers and the Maldivian officer who lost his life during the rescue operations.
