Since the presale has started on Sep 1, 2019 we would like to come with another round of bands confirmed for Brutal Assault 2019! The first band does not need any special introduction: Greek gothic black metal matadors ROTTING CHRIST are coming back to BA once again to make fortress walls vibrate with In Domine Sathana and other Satanic hymns.

High-octane bulldozer WOLFBRIGADE must please everybody whose heart beats in the rhythm of d-beat. Swedish crust gunfire is returning to BA after three years and this time with a weaponry called Run With The Hunted (2017). RAISED FIST - one of the Sweden’s longest-running yet most vital acts in the hardcore scene - will destroy the crowd under the stage with their highly explosive mix of hardcore and metal.

SAOR and HEILUNG, two bands and two different views to folk and metal. While the first produces thrilling and melancholic soundtracks for lonely wanderings in rainy Scottish Highlands, international act HEILUNG is amplified history from early medieval northern Europe.

British squad UNFATHOMABLE RUINATION is about masterful riffcraft, unfuckwithable sound, guttural howls, almighty storm of riffy and blast beats. If you look for technical death metal, this band leaves no room for argument. Talking about blast beasts, we are about to welcome Czech psychotic blastcore / death-grind PERFECITIZEN.

BANDS UPDATE WITH AGNOSTIC FRONT, DESTRUCTION, NEBO KRISIUN published 2 weeks, 2 days ago

No need to wait any longer, since you all definitely want to hear what bands we've booked for BRUTAL ASSAULT 2019 so far. Let‘s start then with German thrash metal giants DESTRUCTION, who will nail many of you moshers to the walls of the fortress. The band is in the best possible shape and crushes stages like never before. We’ll stick with thrash metal, even though with a bit more groove to it with EKTOMORF comming to introduce us their new album 'Fury' (2018). Another groove sensation comes with JINJER and their charismatic frontwoman Tatiana Shmailyuk behind the microphone, also introducing BA fans to their new album.
Cold and sorrow will come with two bands from (where else than) Finland. We are talking about funeral doom act SHAPE OF DESPAIR, whom you can remember from BRUTAL ASSAULT six years ago COUNTING HOURS ushering the fortress into shadows with their depressive sorrowful rock. And now, the hearts of all death metal fans shall start to race! We are comming with three bands representing differnet dephts of this genre. Brazilian commando KRISIUN and their crushing, hot-blooded death metal. The old-school side of things will be presented by JUNGLE ROT from USA, bringing their new self-titled album. And finally we have CYTOTOXIN, crazy band with a mental show playing Chernobyl death metal.
And the last name for this update are legendary essence of NY/HC – AGNOSTIC FRONT! Crossing the pond to celebrate their 35 year anniversary with a tour, the band also releases autobiography of Roger Miret. So you can look forward for a very special show in our beloved fortress!

Here we are again with another lineup update and we truly hope this announcement will metal up your day! Last time we announced German thrashers DESTRUCTION and this time we're announcing their Teutonic compatriots TANKARD with 6,66% of thrash and alcohol in their veins!
This update spans from one side of the moshing spectrum to the other – straight, raw and relentless hardcore with a pinch of British brat-like attitude – exactly what you'd expect from the Leeds' own HIGHER POWER. Also British but bit more emotional type of music comes with the announcement of the one and only ANATHEMA, who will come to comfort your downcast souls..
There are many bands inspired by ANATHEMA, but only a few of them do it in their own unique way. One of these bands are OCEANS OF SLUMBER. These dark progressive Texans lead by the unforgettable voice of Cammie Gilbert will be a treat for lovers of dreamy and emotive melodies. We’ll stick with dark tunes for a little longer and introduce you to the death/doom metal sextet from Belarus, WOE UNTO ME, who will come with their latest work 'The Voidness Flasher' (2017).
And now something for the death dealers! New York death metal legends IMMOLATION will once again present a showcase of death metal domination. And equally important name in the genre history are the Swedish kings waking up after a long slumber – HYPOCRISY!
The last slot in this announcement belongs to the dark black metal project from Finland – VARGRAV. A shady veil of mystery is covering this group and this will be only one of the very few gigs they will do in 2019. Their set will open a window of time taking you to the 90's and will especially pleasure all the fans of LIMBONIC ART, ABIGOR, or early EMPEROR.

If you want death metal in it’s finest, then you would love the fact, that one of the most controversial bands, DEICIDE, are coming with their new album Overtures of Blasphemy to decimate the fortress and crush your heads!

Speaking of blasphemy and devil, on the other hand are standing DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA, with their blend of many different genres, which is a thing not only for fans of avant-garde metal.

Following the massive response from the last summer, the forest fairy MYRKUR returns to our festival to conquer the sceptics yet again! The soft appearance can indeed be hiding for a dark soul… The quick succession also serves as a mean of apology for the unfinished show from this year.
Virginia's heavy psychedelic quartet WINDHAND presents infectious display of songcraft cloaked in alluring atmosphere, molten fuzz, eerie psychedelia and ethereal vocals.

The Ohio satanic royalty MIDNIGHT approaches metal from its dirty side and will finally send shockwaves of rock’n’roll violence through the BA crowds, subjugating and dominating all metalheads with lust, filth, and sleaze! You Can't Stop Steel!
And the finale will belong to the black hordes, that shall look forward for continuation of the bleak, dark and disillusioned MGŁA style of black metal, coming forth with both their anticipated new record and a Brutal Assault performance!

Over seven years, deathlike silence has filled the halls of the world’s biggest black metal forge, whilst powers have been gathering to resurrect the band right in time for their 25th anniversary. And now DIMMU BORGIR have finally returned with a vicious work of art that is their latest album Eonian and they are coming to storm the main stage at Brutal Assault!
Wicked aural filth comes from the islands with GODFLESH, who are highly regarded as one of the pioneers of industrial metal; they took industrial to the next level with their fuse of heavy guitars and mixing it with slow drum loops and effects and their unique approach has spawned several musical styles since their conception.

Unfortunately, even Brutal Assault can't be without changes and unpleasant losses. Due to organisational reasons, Dimmu Borgir is forced to cancel participation in Brutal Assault 2019, but we are discussing their performance for the following year. At the same time, we will announce new names to roster today, so follow our pages and you will know soon, who it is!

An notional Christmas gift is a name that is not necessary to introduce. Norwegian cult EMPEROR! With the musical visionary Ihsahn in front, we can look forward to one of the greatest legends of extreme metal that has left us with treasures like Inno a Satana, Into the Infinity of Thoughts, Towards The Pantheon and many more!

The only predictable thing about Canadian cosmic-metal warriors VOIVOD is that they will forever be unpredictable. On the warpath for more than 35 years, VOIVOD have pushed their sound relentlessly forward, constructing imaginative musical realms with each endeavor. They literally changed the face of thrash metal in the ‘80s, forged new prog-metal ground in the ‘90s, and kept up with changing times and lineups in the 2000s with fresh, inspired music and they’re back with a new album The Wake, which keeps pushing the limits! Appearing in 2002, even before the rebirth of thrash metal scene worldwide, VIOLATOR was formed with the purpose of rescuing the spontaneity and anger that seemed forgotten in the metal scene. Coming from the center Brazil, Brasilia, VIOLATOR is one of the most intense South American bands and after years of waiting, they will finally thrash BA! Polish death machine DECAPITATED is back with a bang! Their new album Anticult highlights just how vital have remained two decades deep into their career. They have long been undeniable masters of their craft and they are expanding their parameters with this album, which should elevate the band's profile beyond the death metal realm in which it has dominated for years. And now they’re coming for the BA crowd! And speaking of technical death metal, of all the amazing technical death metal bands out there, very few can write memorable catchy songs with extreme technicality like French killers GOROD. Get ready for intelligent, deftly crafted flights of musicianship…that will rip your head off!

Sometimes, a band’s music registers just as seismically on an emotional wavelength as it does on a sonic spectrum. And one of those unique bands are ANIMALS AS LEADERS, who reimagine, reinterpret, and refresh instrumental prog, experimental metal, modern jazz, alternative, and even world music to a point where the reaction becomes primal. Consistently delivering a captivating show, their show will surely be one of the musicianship highlights of the festival.

New York’s CAR BOMB detonate a vicious blast of wildly technical and progressive modern metal. SODOM marks the return of Frank Blackfire (ex-Sodom, ex-Kreator, or Assassin). SODOM have already released seminal albums such as Persecution Mania, the live cut Mortal Way Of Live and the highly successful Agent Orange with Frank Blackfire and he is back in a line-up featuring two guitarists for the first time ever in the history of SODOM. Be ready for a brand new ripping SODOM sound! Other revered living legends in this batch are NY/HC leading lights SICK OF IT ALL formed in 1986. More than three decades in the making, the New Yorkers show no signs of slowing down, getting soft, or toning down their stand-proud mentality on new album, Last Act of Defiance. The band still spits out anthems of heartful, no-holds-barred hardcore like on day one with live gigs full of unchained energy!

Veterans of NOLA sound mixing southern rock, blues riffs and hardcore punk EYEHATEGOD are one of the most reputable and distinctive bands ever, even defining a brand new genre now known as sludge in the past.

Other veterans formed in 1987 this time in Sweden and quickly became one of the most creative death metal bands, pushed limits of the contemporary sound and grew beyond themselves. Later on THERION released Theli, which would be the ultimate breakthrough for the band. With the record THERION turned towards a more opera-like, progressive and even orchestral sound which made them famous through the world. And now they're coming to Brutal Assault with a special Theli show! Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every aficionado of extreme technicality, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs when WORMED take over BA stage!

Their South African brutal death metal cousins VULVODYNIA are one of the most active and well known bands in the genre today. Their brutal yet catchy, pit fueling, heavy as hell sound has since earned them fans from around the world and now they are ready to conquer BA!

The final addition on the list is the mysterious producer known as GOST, who embodies the character of Baalberith on his propulsive synthwave solo project that is channeling his fascination with the occult, John Carpenter and 80s slasher flicks. With its haunting atmospherics and aesthetics influenced by the blackest corners of the metal world his music quickly garnered GOST a loyal following within the rock and metal community worldwide.

Bands update SOILWORK, WALLS OF JERICHO, PRIMORDIAL

Let's kick off this band announcement with the well-known metal workaholics! Swedish metal eminence SOILWORK spawned in Helsingborg, anno 1995 by guitarist Peter Wichers and vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid. The band’s unique blend of melodic metal has developed at a staggering rate, most notably with the “Natural Born Chaos”, produced by Devin Townsend. Despite a few line-up shuffles, SOILWORK continues to release strong albums and conquers the fans worldwide, even after 20 years. Now, with the new highly acclaimed album Verligheten, will SOILWORK dominate over the fortress!

In the late 2016, a statement was made about a new album of the Swedish sludge/grindcorers THE ARSON PROJECT, claiming that we were about to witness 23 minutes of straight harsh audio violence. And we got it! Now, this Malmö based quartet will spread filthy tones through their outstanding music full of violence and hatred on Brutal Assault as well.

Dreamy musical landscapes painted by the most delicate nuances. Hills of endless imagination built stone by stone with a gentle talent. THE CONTORTIONIST represents fearlessness in musical expression, designed to please the artist as much as the audience. This band makes progressive metal music, anchored in the heavy sounds that drag the individual players to the stage, yet still unmoored by convention or expectations. There is a time, when you simply need to ease a little, and THE CONTORTIONIST will help to make it happen.

Outstanding, shocking, unbelievable, breathtaking and many more is the Japanese self-called “brutal orchestra” VAMPILLIA. It’s not just a band, it’s something that you have to experience in order to believe it. Each record of this ensemble represents something different, just as their shows do, which you can call an emotional roller-coaster. After their successful tour with Alcest, Brutal Assault will give another warm welcome to these Japanese freaks in Czech Republic!

Hailing from the US murder capital Detroit, WALLS OF JERICHO are not noteworthy just because they are a metalcore band with a powerful female on vocals. They are also worth remembering because they adeptly balanced old-school hardcore, thrash metal, and "chugga-chugga" metalcore with a ferocity and dedication unmatched by many of their contemporaries. WOJO became an iron sureness not only on the hardcore field and not just because of their music, but also because of their attitude and distinguished performance full of blasting energy of their frontwoman Candace Kucsulain. Get ready for live energic mesh of metallic venom and concrete fury of hardcore/punk that the band is known for!

2018 marks the twenty-seventh year of PRIMORDIAL's seminal career, and the return with their ninth full-length Exile Amongst The Ruins, they have lost none of their vitality. Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014's "Where Greater Men Have Fallen" is a more raw, "old school sounding" record than its predecessor. Hitting home, with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as "a direct energy" and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blends elements of Celtic folk and black metal like no one else.

California’s SKELETAL REMAINS not only have proven their exquisite taste when musically citing Death, Pestilence or early Gorguts, but they'Ve also proven they are fully capable of bringing their added value input into the old school death metal genre! With their insanely good latest album Devouring Mortality, SKELETAL REMAINS are coming back to conquer what’s theirs at Brutal Assault!

Retro-rock visionaries MONSTER MAGNET spent much of the 1990s struggling against the prejudices imposed upon the image and sound by alternative rock fashion nazis. In fact, it wasn't until that movement's late-'90s decline that the band's dogged persistence finally paid off and their fourth album, Powertrip, catapulted to gold sales status on the strength of its massive hard rock hit "Space Lord." In the meantime, MONSTER MAGNET managed to become one of the most successful and influential bands associated with the so-called underground "stoner rock" scene. Nowadays, it seems a little bit off to call them underground band, since these guys are a huge deal.

All thrashers, beware! DEMOLITION HAMMER are coming to set things straight in the fortress! New York City’s one of the best thrash acts are back with a helluva take on their classic record Tortured Existence!

An absolute honor is to announce legends of psychedelic rock, Chicago based act full of witchery and surrounded by mystical magic - COVEN! This is the first band which brought sign of horns to rock music back in the 60's when Black Sabbath were still doing blues covers in bars... The first band to use occult lyrics and sing about satanism and also the first satanic band which conquered the music charts. Frontwomen Jinx Dawson re-spawned COVEN again in late 2016 with a new line-up to arrange more sabbaths all over the world and we are pleased to announce that one of these magical sessions will happen at Brutal Assault!

Back in the day, a claim was made about the HELLHAMMER, that this band will never come back, because it’s absolutely impossible to reform a band so closely linked to a very specific and unique time period. However, here we are, standing before something that will remind us of these times - Tom Gabriel brings us TRIUMPH OF DEATH! It is a project with an open end. Apart from vague considerations to, perhaps, release an occasional live EP, Triumph Of Death will not record any new music but is solely dedicated to performing both well-know and obscure Hellhammer songs.

A five- piece of astonishing power and understated charisma, PARKWAY DRIVE created unseen hysteria and are coming back to claim their festival-anthem crown. How do you move from a band as pivotal as The Dillinger Escape Plan? For Liam Wilson, it meant ripping up the rulebook all over again. AZUSA make captivating music with unconventional nerve. Uniting the complementary skills of its members, their sound is a thrash-fusion tour de force. Defying expectations by embracing contradiction, AZUSA finds strength in vulnerability, harmony in dissonance and melody in discord.

Known by many as the Rammstein support that overshadowed Rammstein, COMBICHRIST led by Andy LaPlegua moves huge masses with its strange industrial metal sound that is uniquely even in the ‚aggrotech‘ scene. Remaining within the ranks of metal-and-techno-fusion bands here comes VIOLENT MAGIC ORCHESTRA, an art project of complete harmony of techno, black metal, industrial, noise and emit light. Imagine black metal meets Kraftwerk. Resonating with all the senses, CASPIAN are for fifteen years a solid and unshakable name in the post-rock scene and one of the best live acts from the genre. You can look forward for a show, which will bring welcomed relax during restless times on Brutal Assault. Thunder rolls afar, unremitting rain, awaited gloomy deliverance gets under your skin. Sudden storm of unleashed instruments then quietness, absolute serenity. At the gates of hell or heaven depending on the listener’s philosophy. Cleverly mixing some kind of modern & ambient Black-Metal with Post-Hardcore tones, DÉLUGE does what has to be done whether you want it or not.

Music is mainly about fun and the Nordic mage Leo Moracchiolo is gonna bring fun factor to BA with his studio-project-transformed-into-band known on Youtube as FROG LEAP.
Final band to this update comes from the fertile grounds of Copenhagen’s underground; HEXIS combine black metal with hardcore and post-metal elements for almost ten years now.

If you have not been there yet, this festival is just another level of experience in dark art with cherry picked blend of refreshing underground bands and stellar headliners spread across diverse festival area located within 18th century military fortress. Among traditional festival features the festival area also offers luxury sanitary facilities, permanent horror cinema, underground mazes, huge metal market, art galleries, a lot of sitting spaces within the fortress walls providing shelter from the weather and tons of other attractions. We kick off with true death metal legends INCANTATION. These unholy priests are the originators of equally unholy, blasphemous and rotten death metal that has been recently imitated to the proverbial death, but alas no epigons can match these ungodly desecrating goatfathers of the genre. The band will deliver horrific prophecies with songs from their first three albums, all of them being cult classics. If you can’t name them better do your homework, the indulgence might not be eternal under the ibex moon in our fortress! Shadows of the Ancient Death Metal Empire will be cast over Josefov…

Australian killing machine ESKHATON returns a new violent assault - The Omegalitheos! A phenomenon of psychotic Death Metal violence will resonate with those, who are eager to receive from Death Metal more than the standardized, predictable formulas which the majority is in ease to identify with and feels familiar with. Death Metal has always been meant to be a sick, violent, dark source of energy twisting the senses and blasting the listener into possessed like states and ESKHATON are one of the few bands that are still pushing Death Metal boundaries!

KRAANIUM was formed in 2001 and are one of the original pioneers of the slamming brutality genre. Originally founded in Norway, they have toured and slammed all over the world and now they will impose their heavy relentless BDM upon the BA crowd!

The influential German thrash veterans EXUMER are coming to conquer the moshing crown! Their initial albums Possessed by Fire (1986) and Rising from the Sea (1987) stand as highly-heralded triumphs of the genre until this day. Upon reemerging from hibernation, EXUMER released three long play records that were all also exceptionally well received and especially the brand-new latest output Hostile Defiance is a testimony of relentless power of the genre they helped to spawn!

ČAD are long-standing Slovakian squad, that is very active since its original conception as early as in 1994. The band has won a prestigious Slovak Radiohead award for the best record in Hard and Heavy category twice, despite working their entire career in a DIY way, staying highly original, drug free and being a lot more dark, personal or less accessible than your standard band mixing up elements from extreme hardcore, metal and HC punk. Band members are not only skillful and well-rehearsed musicians, but also writers, illustrators, publishers and filmmakers, which makes them a sort of renaissance phenomenon on the extreme metal scene.

MEAT SPREADER was started after a few beers by two legends of the European gore grind scene Jaro of Dead Infection fame and Arthur of Squash Bowels. They agreed that time has come to create a band referring to grind core's golden years and thus far this gore infested cooperation resulted in a MCD, followed last year by a split with Haemorrhage and Hemdale and a debut full-length. As you can imagine, all these contain a hefty dose of rotten old school gore grind core!

DISCHARGE is a British hardcore punk legend formed in 1977, often considered among one of the very first bands to play hardcore punk at all. The band had substantial lineup changes over its history, but its core members produced its key recordings in the early 1980s, among others the band's first album in 1982, Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing. The record become an instant classic and defined the so called d-beat genre. After a number of successful singles and EPs like the famous 1981 EP Why or the 1982 single State Violence State Control the band brought in significant thrash metal crossover elements to the band. DISCHARGE's music influenced hardcore punk, thrash metal, crust punk, grindcore and various extreme metal subgenres, making them one of the most influential underground bands of all time.

Next on the list are DECULTIVATE - misanthropic hardcore from Prague – this furious noisy HC / crust will decultivate what’s left of You in the pit!

OMNIUM GATHERUM were formed in 1996 and emerged from a vibrant European metal scene with a series of acclaimed demos with a sound that blended the raging brutality of Scandinavian death metal with a rich sense of melody and harmony. All their recordings received ecstatic reviews in numerous metal mags across Europe, and these Finns has ploughed forward for the next 20 years further exploring guitarist Markus Vanhala’s unique sonic and compositional world.

Lithuanian outfit AU-DESSUS will bring outstanding, dark, heavy hitting and atmospheric post-black metal. The mood and riffs fit very well with the lyrical themes and they’re also a stunning live band, so watch out!

And the best in the end, we present you VED BUENS ENDE! A truly cult Norwegian avant-garde metal band. Their sound is diverse with quiet instrumental jazz influenced sections, folkish elements or aggressive black metal blast beats and vocals. Ved Buens Ende means "By the end of the (rain)bow" referring to the mythological rainbow Bifröst. VED BUENS ENDE was formed in Oslo in 1994 by the drummer Carl-Michael Eide (Czral) and brought forward unique mixture of many musical elements and Eide's crooning. Also, Eide's drumming was unusual in style, with very little repetition and a tendency to shy away from traditional drumming, often playing in different meters at once. The band was formed by many fantastic musicians doing stints with them here and there and eventually spawning such legendary acts as Dødheimsgard, Emperor, Satyricon, Arcturus, Ulver, Virus, Manes, Aura Noir, or Dimmu Borgir. However the band split up in 1997, after releasing only one but legendary full-length album Written in Waters. The album is unique and unusual. It incorporates many elements from various music forms and rather unconventional, dreamy and poetic lyrics. VED BUENS ENDE will only do 4 shows in 2019 so do not miss this opportunity to see these pioneers of true avant-garde metal live!

The main event couldn't possibly be more suitable for frolic of epic proportions. Leo Moracchioli and his FROG LEAP will bring a set of creative metalized covers of popular hits that sell out arenas and warm you up with party vibe. This will be a different set from the other one, perfomed later during the festival proper. Leo has all the aces up his sleeve including Lady Gaga, Abba, Prodigy, Adele, Gorillaz, Rihanna, Michael Jackson or Pantera, come to enjoy laid-back atmosphere of the gig and you will be served generous amounts of great tunes and positive energy. Another name on the Tuesday bill are NAILED TO OBSCURITY. This German outfit will pull you in with their captivating death/doom melodies.
The remaining names will represent the local scene. We will have melodic death/grind mincer and one of the longest running veterans of the local scene FLESHLESS, progressive Slovakian death metal MORNA, atmospheric ambient black metal of AEON WINDS also from Slovakia and modern core/metal compound from VICTIMS who will showcase their upcoming debut album.

Estuve preguntando por la visita guiada de Christophe Szpajdel y NADIE sabía una mierda hasta que pude hablar con Petr Frinta (el curator) y fuimos al tour original. Luego, tuvieron que organizar bastantes más. :P
También asistí al docu y charla con miembros de Sea Shepherd, la visita guiada de This Corrosion (A metalhead in Iran) con el curator y la chica iraní y el Talk Show con Barney.
Muy interesante pero dejé el último por el "nivel de conversación".
