CULVER CITY, California –January 19, 2022– Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power officially has a name and it hints at what’s to come.
The television series' complete title was unveiled today, and the significance behind the subtitle will not be lost on J.R.R. Tolkien fans, foreshadowing an epic story that welds the major events of Tolkien's Second Age together: the forging of the iconic rings.
The multi-season drama - The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries around the world in multiple languages on Friday, September 2, with new episodes available weekly.
“This is a title that we imagine could live on the spine of a book next to J.R.R. Tolkien’s other classics. The Rings of Power unites all the major stories of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men,” said Showrunners J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. “Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring – but before there was one, there were many… and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all.”
Just as so many elements of the show itself were hand-crafted, Prime Video chose to physically forge the title in a blacksmith foundry, pouring fiery molten metal into hand-carved wooden ravines shaped to the letterforms. The process was captured in slow motion for a live-action video, which features voice-over narration of lines from Tolkien's famous "Ring Verse," describing the intended recipients of the 20 Rings of Power. The bespoke title treatment appears crafted in a silvery metal, with lines of Elvish script inscribed along the crest of each letterform.

Los que tenemos cierta edad y vivimos el franquismo –empecé a colaborar en periódicos muy jovencito, hacia 1967– recordamos la importancia que los medios informativos daban a los políticos del régimen, que en esa época lo eran todos, en plan visitó un taller el excelentísimo señor subsecretario de Trabajo, o en los juegos florales entregó el premio la distinguida señorita Sónsoles de la Muñeira, hija del señor alcalde. Todo cuanto tenía personaje político de por medio era reseñado minuciosamente, y pobre del medio informativo que no cumpliera. Como hoy, salvando el contexto. La diferencia, a favor de los periodistas de antes, es que informar sobre cualquier actividad de un ministro, un gobernador civil, un alcalde o un jefe local del Movimiento –succionarles el ciruelo, dicho en plata– era obligatorio. Mientras que ahora se trata de una actividad periodística voluntaria, a veces entusiasta. Y no sólo eso. Si uno se fija, buena parte de la información política en España va por ahí. Por la letra pequeña. Por la chorrada.
No recuerdo ahora ningún otro país europeo donde los medios informativos, periódicos, radio y televisión, dediquen tanto espacio a la política. Eso no es malo en sí: la política es necesaria en democracia, y un ciudadano informado sirve mejor a sus compatriotas y a sí mismo a la hora de meter su voto en la urna. El problema es el exceso. La saturación que lleva más allá de lo razonable y útil, incluyendo la descripción detallada de todos los pormenores referentes a partidos políticos: el continuo protagonismo que la clase política tiene en nuestra vida informativa.
La aberración llega al punto de que en España es más conocido un político de medio pelo, cualquier tiñalpa analfabeto, que un economista, un escritor, un científico, un músico, un filósofo, un cineasta. Tampoco la información internacional, tan necesaria en el mundo en que vivimos, ocupa el lugar debido. Por ejemplo: pese a la importancia que Hispanoamérica tiene para España, sólo se habla de ella cuando hay elecciones presidenciales, tragedias o incidentes graves. Venezuela, Cuba y poco más. Consideren cuántos nombres de presidentes hispanoamericanos conocemos los españoles. Sin embargo, vivimos informados por tierra, mar y aire de la moción de censura en el ayuntamiento de Villaperales del Canto, de si el edil de Mataconejos cae mal a la ejecutiva de su partido, de si el alcalde y la presidenta de una comunidad se saludaron en un acto público, de si un asesor ministerial cenó con fulano o mengano, de si la ministra de Exteriores y la de Igualdad se miraron a los ojos o se hurgaron displicentes la nariz.
Hay una explicación. Este disparatado lugar que habitamos son 17 Españas que exigen, no sin razón, un trato semejante. Todos deben ser mencionados para que nadie se sienta al margen; de modo que lo que en ningún país normal abriría un telediario, aquí sí lo hace. Un bostezo de la alcaldesa de Barcelona, una sombra de ojos de la presidenta de Madrid, el escupir un hueso de aceituna de un político, un concejal trásfuga, llenan informativos con escaletas de telediario que aburren a las ovejas: políticos, Covid, ayudas europeas, volcán y vuelta a empezar. Con los personajes de cada taifa reclamando espacio y los periodistas concediéndoselo para que nadie se sienta marginado, por Dios. Para que todos queden contentos.
Eso hace creer a nuestros políticos que son algo más que piezas intercambiables en un mecanismo llamado democracia. Oyes hablar a algunos, adviertes su aplomo, su arrogancia, y comprendes que oírse nombrar a diario los trastorna hasta hacerlos sentirse el ombligo del mundo. Dije alguna vez –después de 30 años escribiendo esta página temo haberlo dicho todo alguna vez– que durante siglos España estuvo en manos de aristócratas y obispos que gobernaron vidas y trazaron rumbos, cuando los hubo. Unos y otros quedaron atrás, pero vino el relevo. La clase política es la nueva aristocracia y el nuevo episcopado: la que moldea una España a la medida de su cochino negocio. Pero no lo hace sola. Nadie consigue eso sin la complicidad de víctimas e intermediarios. En lo que a los ciudadanos se refiere, estar informado es salud democrática. Lo perverso llega cuando la clase dirigente, encumbrada por quienes la adulan y aplauden, pues también viven de ella, contamina a los ciudadanos con su egoísmo, su simpleza argumental y su vileza sectaria. Con las menudas, íntimas y lamentables miserias que decepcionan y alejan a la gente honrada. Estar politizado no es malo, siempre y cuando quien no piensa como tú lo exprese en libertad, se debatan ideas, y de ese modo se llegue a conclusiones lúcidas e inteligentes. Pero saber que a un concejal de Sangonera la Seca le ha salido un flemón en una encía no ayuda una puñetera mierda.

Llevábamos tiempo queriendo ir y ayer hicimos Arbeko Lezea:
ARBEKO LEZE
Nº CATÁLOGO ESPELEOLÓGICO DE NAVARRA: No está catalogada.
MAPA NACIONAL TOPOGRÁFICO: GI-89/IV Tolosa.
SITUACIÓN: Término de Lekumberri
Pozo sin protección, cuya boca es de 1 x 0,5 metros, atravesado por una barra metálica. La boca es muy estrecha para progresar, sobre todo a la subida. El pozo tiene unos 10 metros de profundidad, con mucha basura en el cono de derrubios.
Tiene un desarrollo horizontal bastante importante, con varios pozos más en su recorrido. La cavidad en si, es un poco laberíntica, muchos y bonitos espeleotemas, y zona con corriente subterránea.
Parte de esta cavidad, fue descubierta al construir la autovía A-15, quedando al descubierto, y cerrando posteriormente con puerta metálica para su protección.
