Muy buenas,
Pues, hace tiempo que me hablaron del país para el turismo (de hecho, varias veces) pero se me acaba de ocurrir que sería una gozada hacer unas vacaciones como las que hice en Escocia (vuelo + coche alquilado):

Ice cave collapses at Breiðamerkurjökull
-Two tourists remain trapped in a collapsed ice cave, third was pronounced dead at the scene.
-A group of 25 people was in an ice cave in Breiðamerkurjökull when a collapse occurred yesterday.
-One tourist was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was airlifted to Reykjavík by helicopter and is not in life-threatening condition.
-Two members of the group are still being searched for. The search was called off last night just before midnight and resumed at dawn this morning.
-Three teams are taking turns in the search, working one hour at a time. It has been challenging to bring equipment to the site, so most of the work is being done manually.

If you’re driving a campervan or motorhome, only park overnight in designated spaces. Campsites are your best bet. Please don’t just park up by the side of the road—it’s dangerous for everyone.
In Iceland, you’ll be fined if you’re caught doing any of the following:
-Not paying for parking
-Parking in spaces for people with disabilities. These are clearly marked.
-Parking on-street in areas that don’t have marked spaces
-Parking in the direction of oncoming traffic
-Parking off-road
-Staying the night in a campervan outside of a designated area such as a campsite.
Parking at visitor attractions in Iceland
You’ll find car parks at or close to all major visitor attractions in Iceland. Often, you’ll have to pay for these. In fact, an increasing number of car parks that were once free are now charging, to cover the cost of maintenance.
Parking for motorhomes and campervans
Motorhomes and campervans need to follow the same rules as everyone else in Iceland. But as you’re driving a larger vehicle, you may need to park in designated spaces for you. If those don’t exist, you can park as normal, as long as you do so safely.
Crucially, it is against the law to stay overnight outside of designated areas for campervans. That means you can’t sleep in your vehicle by the side of the road, in regular car parks, or somewhere off-road. You face a large fine if you’re caught doing so.
You’ll find campsites across the country where you park your campervan overnight. They typically come with electricity, as well as toilets and showers and often wifi.
Can I sleep in my car in Iceland?
You’re welcome to sleep in your car in Iceland. However, it is against the law to park your vehicle by the side of the road. If you’re exploring Iceland in a campervan, you need to park in a campsite or other designated parking area.
Parking in Reykjavik from 6pm to 10am is free almost everywhere.
There are generally 2 types of road in Iceland.
First is the paved Ring roads which connects all the major towns. These are easy and safe to drive on. Second is the F-roads, which are unpaved, gravel, and sometimes with river crossings.
2WD is generally adequate if you plan to just stay on the Ring roads. There may be sections along the Ring road where you need to drive on short distance of gravel access roads, but these are fairly flat. It is illegal for 2WD to drive on F-roads.
4WD is highly recommended if you are travelling in winter as ice quickly forms even on the paved Ring roads. 4×4 also allows you to drive on F-roads, and it does lead you to many off the beaten gems.
It will be hard to try to sleep in a car in Iceland. In every rest area, they put a sign "NO CAMPING OVER NIGHT". We need to go to camping ground.
