Hellfest boss Ben Barbaud given an eight-month suspended prison sentence for breach of trust

A few weeks before the recent edition of Hellfest, the director of the Clisson metal music festival was sentenced, for breach of trust, to an eight-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of €20,000. Ben Barbaud confused the fund of the association Hellfest productions with his personal accounts, to buy works of art and wine. The amounts at stake: around €300,000. Amounts now reimbursed, according to his lawyer.
Far from the big sound, the screaming guitars, the metal festival organized every year in Clisson (Loire-Atlantique) and the voices that scour, justice has put its nose, with significant means and at low noise, in the accounts from Hellfest.
And what she discovered, a few months ago already, resulted in lawsuits for breach of trust. And to the conviction of a man before the judicial court of La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée). It is enough in itself to give a particular dimension to the affair: Ben Barbaud, the co-founder and director of one of the biggest French festivals, was sentenced for having confused his personal accounts with those of the festival, to the tune of approximately €300,000.
